ATTENTION AMERICA: We Have Tea All Wrong!
Tea has always invoked action. I mean, have we forgotten the Boston Tea party in 1773, when American colonists threw hundreds of chests of tea into the Boston Harbor as an act of protest and practice of American freedom? Clearly, we have. Because now, in 2022, as Americans, when we think tea, we associate it with the phrase “curling up on the coach with a cup of tea and a good book;” with the yellow, mundane Lipton tea boxes that line the isles of every grocery store and seem to remain in the same spot accumulating dust, day after day, month after month; and with the image of elderly women perched stock-still amongst a table adorned with doilies and flowers, slowly sipping tea out of porcelain teacups served from silver tea pots.
For lack of a better description, tea in America is branded as a snooze fest; Americans do not view tea as an agitator for anything, or anyone. In our country, tea has taken a back seat to coffee, yet it’s the number two drink in the world with water being number one. In short, billions of people worldwide are reaping the benefits of tea, while us Americans stay guarded from the unceasing benefits tea offers: how unruly! It's time for tea to crack the “snooze fest” façade that us Americans have constructed around tea and allow it to reveal its true self. It is time for tea to have its breakout moment in America!
50Cups is fueling this “breakout moment": we are calling tea to action by demanding it to take charge of the health of all Americans.
Our teas and tea blends each have distinct abilities. They provide your body with the power to either detox, de stress, refresh, energize, digest, decongest, or strengthen itself. The body is an amazing thing with various internal processes, but sometimes it needs the help of other amazing things to ensure the efficiency of these processes, and to keep itself healthy. That’s when we turn to tea.
However, before you turn to tea, 50Cups is asking you to do two things. First, forget everything you once knew about tea and all the “actionless” connotations that you previously associated with tea. Second, and most importantly, take on the responsibility of consistently committing to learning about and then giving your body what it needs: 50Cups.
